It’s #WeAreModern Wednesday: Meet Janel Redman
It’s time for another #WeAreModern Wednesday spotlight, where we showcase the incredible people behind the scenes at Modern Machinery. This week, we’re excited to introduce Janel Redman — one of the first friendly voices you’ll hear when you call our headquarters and a vital part of our office team.
Janel joined Team MODERN in 2013 and wears many hats in her role, supporting accounts payable, payroll, HR, customer service, and travel coordination. Whether she’s greeting customers and vendors, assisting clients during machine runoffs, or making sure operations run smoothly, Janel is always at the center of keeping things moving.
“Before coming to MODERN, I worked in the medical field for 14 years. When my family moved to Beaverton in 2003, I knew I wanted to raise my children in a small town and be closer to home. A friend from school, who was also working at MODERN, told me about the office position. I was nervous to make a change, but I was ready to try something new. Looking back, I’m so glad I took the leap. I’ve found the perfect fit and a career that I truly enjoy going to every day.
“My job includes handling all of the A/P invoices, getting payroll ready, scheduling travel, answering calls, and greeting customers and vendors. No two days are ever quite the same, but I love that variety. I especially enjoy helping our clients when they’re here for machine runoffs, and I’m grateful for the flexibility of working close to home so I can attend school events for my kids.
“My three girls are my biggest inspiration. They make me want to do my best in everything, so I can show them what it takes to succeed in today’s world. Outside of work, I love spending time with family and friends, camping, and (most of all) chasing my two youngest girls to their sporting events.
“The motto I live by is simple: ‘Be kind. Always.’ And my favorite quote is: ‘Don’t let anyone dull your sparkle.’ You’ll hear some version of both of those in our house pretty often!”
