The Face of Modern

April & May Employee Spotlights

Kerry Jehnsen

Kerry Jehnsen

Purchasing/Production Manager

”I‘ve always been interested in how things are made and the mechanics behind that, and this role lets me be right at the intersection of production and logistics. I like being the person who keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes – making sure the right parts are where they need to be, when they need to be there. But what really makes it rewarding is getting to work directly with our customers. Whether it‘s helping them source parts quickly or troubleshooting an issue, I like being someone they can count on. It‘s satisfying to know I‘m helping them stay up and running, and that we‘re building trust along the way.

”I enjoy exploring Michigan, taking road trips and spending quality time with family and friends. Just slowing down and appreciating the simple things … those moments recharge me and remind me of what really matters.“

Doug Parmele

Doug Parmele

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

”I enjoy the variety of work at Modern. Every machine we manufacture is different in size, speed, process and product. I generate new concepts and designs for machines that do different processes for the manufacture of plastic parts. My group also creates all of the documentation and information retention, such as drawings, bills of materials, standards and CAD files.

”I love going to custom car shows and am inspired by seeing all of the different ideas people have for their builds. Building and tinkering are in my nature, so that’s what I do in my spare time with my Jeep and custom truck (a chopped 1957 Ford F-100). Fixing things is what I do best. I also enjoy outdoor activities in the northern Michigan woods – camping with family and friends, Jeep and dirt bike rides, deer hunting and fishing.“
